Summary:

In the first issue of Educational Action Research (Volume 1, Number 1, 1993, pp. 7-24), Clem Adelman argued that Kurt Lewin should be accepted as the founder of action research. However, although Lewin can be given much credit for the achievements of action research, its origin has many roots. One author, Jacob L. Moreno, has been ignored in the scientific community in spite of being a pioneer in developing action research.
